England Netball is seeking to appoint a new Chair of the Board as the first step towards a wider Board succession plan, as the organisation prepares for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022.
The successful candidate will succeed Colin Povey, the current Chair, after a period of unprecedented success for the sport. It is anticipated that the new Chair will subsequently manage further appointments as other senior Non-Executive Directors approach the end of their maximum terms of office.
The new Chair will be an experienced, passionate and ambitious leader ready to help take the sport to new levels at a critical time for the organisation and the game, as we look ahead to an exciting new chapter in our development.
England Netball is the national governing body for England’s biggest adult female team sport, netball, with over 3.1 million children and adults taking to the court each year.
The new Chair of England Netball will contribute to a sport that is truly ‘on the up’, encouraging and enabling bold strategic decision-making, commercial and social ambition to innovate and change the game.
Through this appointment, England Netball is looking to build on the significant contribution made by current Chair Colin Povey, who led the organisation during some of the most successful moments in the sport’s history.

As we embark on an exciting new strategy to grow the game at all levels there is a real opportunity to enhance the health and wellbeing of grassroots netballers and to drive more commercial value in the elite game.
“We have a strong executive leadership team in place and a wonderful army of volunteers who continue to offer magnificent support to the sport. I have learned from my time on the Board that the wider Netball Family is very special and has the capacity to do wonderful things across all ages and parts of society.”
Recent years have seen the undisputed rise of netball and of women’s sport more widely, but here at England Netball we feel we are only just getting started. There is so much more to do and the new Chair will help to make a significant impact to the future of the sport for many generations to come.
